UXH Mixology #10: Figma 💔 Adobe
In this edition: Becoming a Full Stack PM, a 2023 tech review and it was not meant to be...
Bienvenido!
It’s Christmas week, so here’s wishing you a Merry Christmas 🎄
And while the headline of this edition might indicate a heartbreak, if you are a designer, this week was anything but that 🕺🏻
🌏 Product & Design News:
Adobe abandons $20 billion acquisition of Figma
2023 is ending on a high, for designers. A marriage that was too good to be true, eventually isn’t: the $20bn Adobe, Figma marriage, that is.
Under pressure from regulators, Adobe called off its plans to acquire Figma, last week.
And while there is talk that this isn’t a good sign for VCs, given how a regulator somewhere could mess up a great deal, we doubt designers are shedding a tear on this one!
Infact, this is the designer sentiment, as of this moment. Well, not exactly, but close enough:

More than Razorpay, think it’s a sigh of relief for a lot of Indian startups who were waiting to integrate a Payment Gateway on their products.

Weekend Hackathon #6
Featuring: Gumroad
A Creator’s profile on Gumroad is a key asset through which they can attract visitors to their products. However, the first fold is too rigid and doesn’t give a good first impression. That’s the screen you have to improve on this weekend.
In fact, Nishith has his creator profile on Gumroad in case you want to check out the live version (shameless plug :P)

🖥️ From Founders’ Desk:
From where Nishith takes his inspiration
As a founder, you need to be motivated for daily grind. I often have a few communities and channels that I visit to get inspired.
For me, the best inspiration comes from the founders who are still hustling. The gems they share are real and actionable.
I truly believe in this decade, we will see more $1mn+ digital businesses running with a lean team, completely remote and bootstrapped. And those are the type of founders I try to follow.
If you are someone who is looking to start their own venture or are already an Entrepreneur, here are a few communities worth checking out:
IndieHackers : You will find a lot of honest stories of struggle, growth, and success here. Most of them here are either solopreneurs or just a couple of co-founders
Check out a cool story I stumbled upon today: how a Reddit post led to the survival of their startup.r/EntrepreneurRideAlong/ - You need to put some effort into finding gems. But once find, those are real gold. Also if you can be creative, you can get good traffic to your site from here.
r/startups/ - Almost similar to above but more geared toward funded startups. Though the quality of discussions I have found here is better. Also, they have a Monthly and Quarterly share your startup thread, which again can bring in good distribution.
There are more but these should be good to start with :)
And with that we are done with Edition 10 of Mixology! Hard to believe, but things sure flew by.
Here’s to many more mixes and here’s to Christmas!
Cheers! 🥂
