Apple's Glass Ceiling 🧊
In this edition: Apple's Liquid Glass design, Canva's homescreen and Nishith's new home | Mixology 64
Hola and welcome to this late edition of Mixology.
Let’s not mess around and get straight to it… Apple’s Liquid Glass redesign and what we think about it
🌏 Product & Design News:
Apple drops a major redesign
So a couple of days back Apple launched what it calls its biggest design change since iOS 7.
That's way back in 2013, a good 12 years ago. So a redesign is justified.
But any redesign's aim is to improve on what exists, while updating it to users' current expectations.
And ofcourse this has to be done keeping *basic* design principles in check:
Consistency
Readability
Usability… to name a few
Not sure what Apple was thinking: it's redesign is none of these.
It is NOT an improvement, it is difficult on readability.. And most importantly: Who even asked for it?
Some say they are getting Windows Vista vibes with this one. But this is Apple... So maybe the design will grow on you (ahem)

🖥️ From Founders’ Desk:
Nishith has a new home!
Last weekend, I shifted within Noida from Sector-77 to Sector-45.
This was perhaps the longest I had been at a single place: 7 years. So, I shifted with mixed emotions. But I am a strong believer that whatever happens, it happens for the good!
If you are in and around Sector-45 and would like to catch up over a coffee, do drop me a Hi
If you have ever shifted places, I am sure you must be aware of the hassles that come with house shifting. And it gets more profound if you have a family with kids.
Also shifting stuff like ACs, Geysers and Wall mount TVs is another hassle. Basis my past experiences, this generally needs support of electrician, AC technician and a carpenter. First you have to uninstall them and then get it fixed again in the house.
This time, I availed services of Porter, a leading logistics startup. And one of the reasons why I tilted towards them is because they were providing a full stack solution
And I had a pleasant experience so far with their service. I am still waiting for their electrician to come and install the TV, however it still gives a peace of mind that I don’t have to chase another person or place another request for it to be fulfilled.
That is about it.
What do you think about the new Apple Redesign? Love it? Hate it?
