UXH Mixology #28: Kill Bill RBI 🤺
In this edition: TCS CEO says call centre waale khatre mein hai, RBI says Kotak khatre mein hai but we say: all izz well, all izz well ❤️
Hola! This week’s edition might sound a bit dystopian: what with the word kill featuring in the headline and body. But it’s not. It’s an eye opener.
Be it for one of the largest banks or for the largest form of service jobs in India.
The underlying theme? The need for better products and experiences.
Let’s get to it
🌏 Product & Design News:
Kotak Mahindra Bank Shares Tank 12% After RBI Bans Customer Onboarding Digitally
First, it was the smaller banks (some neobanks, some aggregators). Then it was a large Payments Bank (Paytm) and now it is one of the Largest Private banks (Kotak).
The RBI, as we shared previously, is in clean up mode.
The latest measure, a ban on onboarding new users via Kotak’s app and other digital channels, seems minor, given the string of non-compliances *for over two years*.
Some numbers to set context:
72% of new savings accounts are opened digitally via Kotak 811
76% of new FD’s are created digitally
And 99% of new credit cards are sourced via digital channels
And while this meme seems apt, it’s anyone’s guess who’s next.
PS: RBI isn’t even penalising banks for their, sorry to say, pathetic UX. If only they were to do so, a lot of users will be thankful
🗞More news
Mygate has a new identity: it now wants to be a ‘living experience tech’ company. Not sure how this will pan out. But the earlier logo is now ubiquitous in most high-rise societies, so there is that.

TCS CEO's major warning on AI: It could kill call centres in a year
This is a very bold statement coming from the the IT services giant which employs 6,00,000+ people.
The AI wave is both an opportunity and a threat for IT Services industry. Here’s how they are likely to add value, while trying to not go extinct:
Helping clients build large custom AI bots and layers: Companies like TCS would have vast amounts of client data so they can be front runners in helping clients leverage AI for their benefits.
Shared AI Hybrid services: Running AI at scale is expensive at this stage. Clients would be wary of running a large-scale AI transformation themselves. That’s again where they can bring in efficiencies by providing a mix of shared AI + Manual layer
Talking about TCS and AI, we stumbled upon an interesting article about a TCS Executive Krish Ashok (who is also a Food influencer), and how he uses a custom-made GPT Assistant, to help with content creation. Cool!

🖥️ From Founders’ Desk:
Nishith is looking forward to launching his utility Publish Buddy on Product Hunt
A couple of years back, I developed a no-code-based social media automation tool.
This stemmed from our needs at UXHack, where we wanted to post to multiple social channels, with minimal manual inputs. The available tools were expensive and had their constraints.
So I developed a product using a No-code stack of Airtable + Make. If you would like to know how I built this, you can read more about it here.
After gaining confidence, I published this utility on Gumroad.
I’ve also added some new features recently like:
Supporting posting to Slack, Discord, and Discourse
Support for video posts
Now, I feel it’s the right time to take the next step: a formal PH (ProductHunt) launch.
I’m pleased to share that Publish Buddy will go live on Product Hunt on 1st May 2024 🥳

And that’s it for this week.
As the summer hits its peak across India ☀️, hope you stay cool 😎, stay chilled🍹 and stay tuned 📻 for our next edition.
Signing off, for now. Bye!
