UXH Mixology #17: Like Magic
In this edition: Uber's Ad business, some UI Magic and some much need heart talk ❤️
We ended last week’s newsletter, hoping the next week would be calmer, less dramatic.
Not sure if it was, with the Paytm saga still slowly unfolding.
But it sure was exciting, as we got to see a beta of what we’ve all been long been thinking about… some magic in design ✨
🌏 Product & Design News:
The ChatGPT for UI design: Galileo is here!
Have you ever wondered, can I just say: ‘make an e-commerce app design’ and a product just makes it for you, with Figma file and all? Like ✨Magic?
Well the magic is here with Galileo AI.
Initial impressions of Galileo AI are…. impressive. And while some people are predicting the end of young designers (major eyeroll), the reality is not so stark:
Tools like Galileo will only set the bar higher for young designers and PMs, with base level designs getting standardised.
It’s highly likely that hiring evaluations will change (take home design assignments kinda seem pointless now), with more focus on Problem Solving, Whiteboarding, articulation and general understanding of UX. All good things!
Also, generally speaking, these tools have the potential to make Founders, PMs, Designers more productive and that is a plus ➕
You can try it out yourself at usegalileo.ai
PS: Wonder why they named it after an astronomer rather and an artist

Pratik Pal to step down as Tata Digital CEO; Naveen Tahilyani to take over
Remember all the hype around that app: Tata Neu, during a recent IPL? Well, the company behind it (Tata Digital) is seeing a major rehaul in management. The news has been, not hyped at all, with the CEO making an exit, and his replacement coming in on Feb 19th. All a bit hush hush.
Uber is an.. Ad network (also)?
One graph worth looking at is this one: Uber’s ad business is on track to become a billion dollar business by itself, by end of 2024. Moreover, Uber also reported its first profit annual profit, with valuation reaching… $150bn!

What Akshay is thinking about this week
One of the major concerns, especially for Indians, post the pandemic, has been the spike in heart attacks and heart related diseases amongst youngsters.
And while there is a lot talked about, there is very little awareness about what causes them, as also, how they can be prevented.
I came across this podcast (I’m not a big podcast fan!) which had some nice takeaways: The key ones focussing on the food we eat, which most of us tend to ignore.
Worth the time spent. Also urge you to share it with others, especially those at risk.
Hope you liked this edition of Mixology. If you did, share it with someone you know, so they know :)
Also, what are your thoughts on this whole AI takeover of UI design. Tell us which camp are you in. We’ll see you next week, bye 👋🏻
